The motto of Sant Chavara National Academy is expressed in the words of famous thinker, Cardinal Newman: ''Lead me Kindly, Oh Light". Although expressed just in a few words, it contains whole world of meaning. It is a prayer addressed to the ultimate reality, God as Light. When we celebrate the feast of lights, i.e. Deepawali, we Indians are also inspired to look at God as Light and celebrate the victory of Good over Evil.
By this perception of God as Light and we humbly ask him to lead us to Fullness of Life, Truth and Love which all of us aspire to embrace at the end of life. The prayer of our ancient Indian sages, "Lead us from Untruth to Truth, from Darkness to Light and from Death to Immortality", still echoes in our souls as true Indians.
Our motto signifies our search for the light of truth through education. The end of education as imparted in Chavara National Academy is not merely for worldly success devoid of wholeness of our human life which includes moral integrity, devotion to God and love of our neighbor and nation. Our motto ''Lead me Kindly oh Light" means all this, that is, God as Light may lead us from going astray during our pursuit of knowledge and success in our student life and afterwards, but may guide us to a life of success integrated with all the values of an authentic humanity.
